Hi, I’m Tara…

I'm a whore revolutionary and a wilderbabe. I'm pretty much in love with this little river I live on and myself and if you stick around you'll read (and see) all about it.

Live from the Whore Revolution!

Nothing like this ever happens in Alaska, especially not in the woods.

I’m in San Francisco for the Sex Worker Film Fest and there are so many things happening! Friday was an amazing burlesque show where a cowboy sang Fancy and Carol Queen read a story about a handjob psychic. It was a benefit for the St James Infirmary (where I’m definitely going to go and get a free STI test before I go home, because the nurses at public health in Alaska are sooo mean) and they raffled off the biggest basket of lube you’ve ever seen.

Saturday we went out with signs and videos and a projector:

to hand out festival pamphlets and talk about sex worker’s rights. Some people were interested and some people ignored us. One guy took the brochure I handed him and then gave it back, saying “oh no, this is too much for me.”

“Then avert your eye and run along,” I told him, but for some reason he just kept hanging around staring at us for a while.

Towards the end of the evening an elderly gentleman came up to us and declared that he was a john and proud of it. “Am I being recorded?” he asked. “I want to go on record!” I whipped out my phone camera, and congratulations John, you’re officially on record:

John Revolutionary <---- Click that, cause I fail at embedding videos. Yesterday was the first night of Mariko Passion's one woman show, Modern Day Asian Sex Slavery The Musical, which I’ve been doing the tech for, along with four other wonderful people. It’s powerful and incredible and I can’t really convey it in words. If you’re in San Francisco you have a few more days to see it (check out the schedule on the website), and in the meantime, here’s a preview:

And if you’re in San Francisco come to my plant medicine class on Friday at 3 at SOMArts!
